Very important information
1)
Very is an intensifier. That's a kind of adverb that makes stronger or intensifies another adverb or
adjective. We can have a person, for example, who is strong and make him or her stronger with very
strong. We could also make him or her weaker with very weak. Any adverb or adjective that can
change by degree--more or less--can be modified with very.
Rule: Very never comes directly before a verb.
You must not say, for example:
*I very drive
*I very eat
*I very sleep
*I very like
You can say:
I really like or I like <something> very much.
I like Chinese food very much.
I really like Chinese food.
I like traveling very much.
I like traveling a lot.
I feel very cold. The weather is very cold today.
Better: I'm cold; the weather is really cold today.
That shirt is very dark--almost black.
It's very bright today. I may need my hat and sunglasses.
I'm not very sure how to answer that question.
In the last two examples, "very" follows the verb "BE".
